October 23-24, 2026

Runners come all over to participate in some of the most  scenic and picturesque trails in the southeast.

The BSFAC is once again please to help provide communications for this event using amateur radios.

The No Business 100 began in 2017. The No Business Hundred is a 100-mile loop course with roughly 14,500 feet of ascent that traverses through the heart of the Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area. The course begins in Tennessee crosses the state line into Kentucky and loops back around. Each year they reverse the direction of the course and for 2026 it will be run counter-clockwise. The total race cutoff time is 34 hours however we are only needed for a couple of hours at the start of the event.

While planning for the 2026 is already underway we are still working on the details. We are planning to provide communications for the following aid stations:

·        Sawmill @ approx mile 13

·        Charit Creek @ aprrox mile 20

·        Bandy Creek @ approx. mile 24

·        Grand Gap @ approx. mile 29

·        Duncan Hollow @ approx. mile 36

All aid stations can be reached via a vehicle (Duncan Hollow may require high ground clearance) and Bandy Creek/Charit Creek have restrooms.

Our role is to provide timely communications regarding the health & welfare of the runners. We will also pass information regarding runners that may have dropped out and in need of transportation or the overall status of the aid station. The first runner is tracked along with the last runner and sweep. The aid stations and others are responsible for tracking individual runners. Our primary role is communications but have also assisted in aid-station duties as time permitted and if our volunteer was comfortable in that role.
